The American Physical Therapy Association conducted a

study in 2012 on pain management. Three-quarters of the suffering population will use medication, compared to a quarter who will seek a healthcare professional. Another study in 2015 revealed that physiotherapy provides quicker and more cost-effective pain relief in the long term.

In the early stages of managing lower back pain, it may be beneficial to combine medication with physiotherapy treatments. This approach allows for tailored care that adjusts to your needs and pain levels.

The article below outlines the management in 4 steps:

  • An evaluation: to understand the origin, location, frequency, and duration.

Additionally, the aim is to understand how this injury occurred. Here are the different types: mechanical, chemical, infectious, or degenerative.
2- Consider various treatment options, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, kinesiology, and acupuncture…

3- Meet one of our professionals for a free consultation.

4- Manage pain with techniques to increase your functional capabilities and strength, which will help relieve you.

One piece of advice we can give you is to consult with a physiotherapist as soon as pain appears. Medication may provide temporary relief but does not offer long-term healing and carries a risk of relapse.
